The Autodesk University 2019 Blogger and Social Media Meetup was a blast.
I want to thank LinkedIn for all the food and beverages as well as cards for free LinkedIn Learning and LinkedIn Premium accounts as well as heavy lift assistance on logistics like store runs, cleanup, hot delicious pizza, and filling the bathtub completely with beverages and ice.
Thank you to Portland AEC VR Collaboration startup The Wild. With the help of VR artist Samantha Luck and The Wild group of Mischa Winkler, Gabe Paez, and Clay Walsh. The Wild brought the AU Blogger & Social Meetup to life in a big unique and creative way. I had a crazy idea to create a VR environment of the actual hotel suite we were in using Revit thanks to Revit master Jonathan Hand who modelled the hotel suite so accurately. We then placed the Revit model of the hotel suite into The Wild VR environment and filled it up with fun models like the infamous Dancing Baby and added many meetup attendees as photos and sketches in the VR space. In the end Gabe produced a fun walkthrough video of the meetup space.
Thank you to Techsmith for giving some copies of SnagIt and Camtasia and sweet swag. I have used your products happily almost on a daily basis for over 20 years and couldnt imagine communicating or blogging without using them.
Thank you to Scott Diaz at FARO for the great surprise of bring the Boston Dynamics spot, the cute four legged robot with a FARO Focus 3D laser scanner to the suite and having it dance and pose with attendees. It was a great surprise when it showed up at the door prancing. I hope to get a robot from Boston Dynamics next year to join us at the annual AU5K event and either start the annual run of hundreds of runners or take our group photo.
Finally, a sincere thank you to all that attended regardless of how poor my instructions were or the complication of the need of a hotel card to get into the elevators to get to the suite. I want this annual recognition and thank you of social influencers (bloggers and social media) to live on and would like to partner or find a sponsor so that we can hold a event at a bar or event space instead of a hotel suite and all the challenges that causes. So if you are interested in combining super powers and creativity for a fun time with the best attendees, lets talk over the next few months and figure out something fun.
Best,
Shaan
