Captured in First FARO LiDAR 3D Photo Booth

Shaan in 3D

Last week at Autodesk’s Design Night Sheffield, FARO had their first ever LiDAR 3D Photo Booth for good fun. The booth setup used multiple FARO Focus LiDAR scanners to scan from various positions. LiDAR is generally used to capture buildings, bridges, equipment, terrain, but at Design Night Sheffield it was used for the fun capture of willing attendees in 3D.

After several people volunteered, and weren't sliced to pieces by the lasers, I decided to get captured in 3D and struck a pose. You have to stand completely still for about 3 minutes which was enough a challenge to do while watching a video.

The LiDAR captured objects and people as 3D point clouds and then FARO processed them to 3D meshes in ReCap Pro. The group captured one by one are  being assembled together in a group scene in Navisworks.

Cheers,
Shaan
