Already this month (November 2007) I have logged 2400 miles in my truck traveling around the American Southwest and I am going to add more miles to my November tally. Today I leave for Kanab Utah in Southern Utah which I will be using as my base for my solo hike into the Paria Wilderness area Coyote Butte North and visiting the famous wave sandstone structure again and during the hike crossing into Arizona. It can be a hard hike at times especially the deep stand which feels like you have hiked 5 miles for each you do in the sand. Sunday I will be headed for Las Vegas and Autodesk University 2007. After a Week at Autodesk University I then take a flight to São Paulo Brazil for the AUGI CAD Camp Brasil - São Paulo. After a few days in São Paulo I will then take a week of hiking in Iquitos Peru near the mouth of the Amazon river and some jungle exploration.
Tally for this round of 3 weeks of travel:
- 798 miles by vehicle
- 17,048 miles by air
- 100 miles by boat
- 50 miles at least by foot

Map of hikes and photo treks I will be taking around Las Vegas which are Valley of Fire and Red Rocks Canyon. I also think it would be neat for a small 4 person group of AU Attendees to take a helicopter ride around Vegas, the area, and perhaps the Grand Canyon for photos as that is a fairly short ride in a helicopter and there are many that do this almost on the hour. I took a copter ride in Switzerland up over the Alps and the famous North face of the Eigerhorn and that was soo very cool.
I hope we can meet up along my travels and please make sure to bookmark this blog or RSS feed for live blogging and photos from the travels including at Autodesk University 2007.
