Dinner and entertainment beginning at 6:30 tonight and supposed to be a 80s theme. I am headed there now but have little voice left. I am also without any 80s style clothing unless I wear my spandex rocker pants (just kidding). For those concerned about the well being of the green clay Matt Murphy head, after it sat prominently in a seat in the CAD Management expert panel in front of those in attendance, I placed it in a safe... I am currently in Robert Green's CAD Management tips and tricks class. Currently Robert has a great talk about how to be able to be lazy and make things easy for training such as using Camtasia by TechSmith to create nice video tutorials. At 3:30 I am on the CAD Mgr. Town Hall panel part 2 with Yoshi Honda. Both of these sessions are on the 5th floor in Palazzo - O-P. Cheers, Shaan Read more →
Yesterday (Wednesday) was an action packed day and fun. I have posted many new pictures in my AU 2007 Flickr Gallery. You can see that many are flocking to see and get their picture with the famous Matt Murphy clay head sculpture and it is beginning to get a really wild following. I heard a rumor there was an all night vigil around the sculpture the other night.... I am headed back down to the Autodesk MyFeedback Booth in a... Read more →

Thanks to the heads up from my Perth Australian friend Steve Johnson for alerting me to this news item from Amit's Digital Inspiration blog posting. I did not even know even though TechSmith has a booth almost directly across from the Autodesk MyFeedback booth at Autodesk University 2007. I just have not got a break to run over and say hi to Betsy and the creators of SnagIt and Camtasia which I have used daily for years for producing screen... Read more →
I made it through the first AUGI Beer Bust that I made it back to my room by midbight and able to be at breakfast by 7. The exhibit hall was awesome and packed and I will be posting some photos this morning. There were some great stories about my old Autodesk memorabilia. More later, Shaan Read more →
I attended the Morning AU Welcome with presentations from Lynn Allen, Carl Bass Autodesk CEO, Jonathan Knowles Director of Cool Things at Autodesk, and Jeff Kowalski Autodesk CTO. There was some really cool things shown and it all culminated with a grand finale of showing of future ideas and concepts live such as Metropolis which was shown live like Google Earth for the Deign World on 20 High Definition screens powered by 40 HD projectors in a full 360 degrees... I just emerged from a secret place for some behind the scenes photos and interviews. I have been told I could be possibly tasered "DTMB" if I post some of the photos before the main presontation occurs Tuesday morning at 8AM. All I can say is you won't believe what you will see all performed live and not recorded... Another important detail is that there are only 7500 seats and over 9000 in attendance, so be early as standing is... Read more →
I am heading down to breakfast and then with my cameras in tow to the registration for AU 2007. I registered lastnight after I was told it was open and the process was fast and simple. You simply enter your name on one of the kiosk machines, then proceed to pick up your badge. I am also going to go get some behind the scenes photos. I also must prepare for my booth 900 that will open tomorrow night with... Read more →

I had a great hike today into The Wave famous sandstone formation located in the Paria Wilderness area (entrance by permit only) and then a dive into the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument region with the Grosvenor Arch in Southern Utah. I have had enough of dirt roads. There was no wind or snow but it sure was cold in the morning. I am tired and soar and need to get some rest before packing up and heading of to Las... Read more →
I made it to the Utah/Arizona border for my long and cold hike today to the famous wave sandstone formation in the Paria Wilderness region. Nobody told me it was 30mph winds and 23 degrees without a windchill and also that it snows in this part of high desert. Luckily I am well prepared and will be on the trail in about 45 minutes for a very long day and hopefully some nice photographs and memories.. Cheers, Shaan (Sent from... Read more →

There is a long story behind this gobbler creation but in short it was created back in 2002 by me and my team in a team building contest. It was made from homemade playdough from a recipe. It was once soft and each team member after completing a task had to place a feather in it's little bare butt hence my name for it "The Bare Butt Turkey". It has since hardened to the density of granite. My travel adventure... Read more →

Please play the follow free midi music on your computer during this blog posting to set the mood as it should play in your browser: Imperial March (from http://moviethemes.net) Of course I am joking about the Dark Side reference as we like to think of ourselves nothing more than a cute, friendly, smart, dog loving, customer loving, innovating, beer busting, furry green or blue fuzz ball of a group. I wanted to mention that top beta site customer for years,... Read more →

Another large organization is moving to AutoCAD based products specifically Civil 3D from another software package. This is a nice one as it is another Department of Transportation "DOT" and one CAD company typically has held many of the DOT in the United States, but that hold is now disappearing. We have seen many of these large migrations over the recent past even the worlds best known coffee retailer moved to AutoCAD, major retailers, and several others that made the... Read more →

The Autodesk Product Manager utility has been updated to work with the most recent Autodesk products. The Autodesk Product Manager is a nice hidden gem to determine what products and versions you have and can even scan your network. This optional tool you can install from AutoCAD product installation menu or the DVD like the current AutoCAD 2008. Many times it is perfect for people, IT, or CAD Managers that don't know what is being used and their versions in... Read more →
