Autodesk will be closed for the annual week of rest and the holidays from the 23rd of December until the 1st of January. I have been traveling quite a bit in the recent 3 weeks and add a holiday and the week long Autodesk University in the middle, many beta projects, customer visits, presentations, and it all amounts to a large amount of email and task backlog. I received an email about a slow plot dialog box in AutoCAD 2006 and I emailed a possible solution from AU last week. The most likely cause is a plot device is unreachable such as it is offline or not there. The delay should be only the first time you launch the Plot dialog and it checks your system devices. Almost 5000 attended the main stage presentation last Tuesday at Autodesk University 2005. One portion was a live demonstration of how a project went from concept to final construction with the collaboration of many Autodesk products and disciplines including a stunning presentation video at the end. For those that attended AU this year (last week) in Orlando, you can now log onto the AU Connect site and view the 100 classes that were recorded and also download class handouts for most of the other 400 classes. For the 9 million download mark, I was tardy in keeping my eye on the number of Autodesk DWF Viewer downloads. I was able to stay on top of the 9 to 10 million transition, because it was the fastest million downloads we have ever had. I mentioned the MGM/Disney Studios theme park ride the "Rockin Roller Coaster" and that it was designed in AutoCAD by David Harrington. If you attended AU 2005 you may have rode the ride but now you can see the DWF sheet of the huge guitar at the entrance where the strings run into the ride building and give the appearance of becoming roller coaster tracks. I left Orlando this afternoon after Autodesk University ended and headed South for Naples Florida which is on the Gulf of Mexico and roughly 100 miles to the West of Miami. Last night was the Disney/MGM Studios party for Autodesk University 2005 attendees and what a night it was. I posted many photos from the evening in the AU 2005 image gallery.
