Shaan, I have been a beta (and even alpha once) for several years, but for some reason this year myself and other previous testing colleagues have not received any word on the Revit Beta. I know it typically happens before AU, I just never heard anything about it this cycle. Is there a posted email address for the Revit beta group lead to inquire about inclusion or lack thereof?

Thank you for the awesome information in your blog. Much appreciated.

Same situation as Nick ... ... is Revit 2015 Beta in progress?

Thanks

Dick Barath

Nick & Dick,

Each beta is managed by the product team and has a limited amount of resources and number of beta participants they can support. I don't know the reason you were not selected but in other beta selection criteria projects I have seen it has been users that use a specific feature or experience level, have been active and constructive in past projects, brand new participants, and a few other criteria. Some teams have found you don't need to have 10,000 plus beta participants to find the same quality of defect and feedback reporting on a new release. The criteria and selection is left up to each team and some teams open the doors wide open while some do now.

Again I don't know the specifics in the Revit beta for you but it could also be a simple case of the email was missed or a spam filter grabbed it as was the case for another person who emailed me last week and didn't know they had two invitations to both the Revit and AutoCAD betas.

Best regards,
Shaan

Dick,

See my reply to both you and Nick. Yes the beta is in-progress but wrapping up. Thousands were sent special email invitations and many participating.

Best regards,
Shaan

Dick,

I just checked your account and you were indeed sent an email invite to the Revit beta but never logged in.

Regards,
Shaan

Nick,

I just checked your account and you were indeed sent an email invite to the Revit beta but never logged in.

Regards,
Shaan

Shaan:

Must have accidentally erased it - what was the date. Can I get another invitation please.

Thank you.

Dick Barath

Shaan:

I did receive a Longbow invitation - you are mistaking by chance. Revit 2015 obviously is what I am looking for.

Thank you.

Dick

Dick,
It was definitely your account that had been sent the invite for the current Revit beta as it showed you as a candidate but no login. I don't know the date it was sent only that the system sent it and flagged you as a project candidate that did not accept the invitation emailed unique link to activate your participation.

Regards
Shaan

Shaan:

What if anything can I do to get back into the fold?

Thanks

Dick

Dick,

I don't believe it's about "getting back into the fold" as much as finding out why you did not receive your invite email which shows it had sent. I will email the team and let them know.

Regards,
Shaan

Much appreciated - thank you.

Shaan, I have been logged in (and testing) other software. Not sure how I could have missed it. Yesterday, I contacted a member of the project development team and they sent me the invite. It only included info to create a new account. It is odd, it still has not popped up as an available opportunity to test.

It's quite unfortunate really, I have participated in conversations in the past that I thought were informative and insightful (specifically my knowledge of Citrix and Revit Server). It is funny that Autodesk makes a push to specifically entice you to Beta test their software, then never includes you. It was something I really used to enjoy not to mention prepare for when rolling out the new version at a firm our size.

Thank you for the information Shaan. It is greatly appreciated.

Nick,
A few things to clarify.

The invites allow both new and existing accounts. If you already have an existing account like yourself, you just sign in after clicking the unique invite link in the email. On the beta home page you will see projects you have been added to or accepted an invite and NDA for. You wont see pending invitations that had been emailed to you.

We do appreciate people who participate in betas. I am not sure where the invite was missed but I alerted the team to the two of you.

Regards
Shaan

Shaan:

Did you send the email - no contact at my end.

Dick,

I emailed the product team about your not finding your invite email. The product teams are who controls beta access for their products.

Best Regards,
Shaan

Shaan,
I too have done Beta testing in the past for Revit, and somehow did not get the invitation this year. Is it possible to get the invitation now? Having the opportunity to Beta test does help me a lot at the time of firm wide rollout of the new release.

Thanks!

One thing I am noticing is that everyone I have checked had been invited but for some reason had not accepted the email invite by clicking the unique URL to activate. I am looking into a possible cause a few did not get theirs but suspect spam filters. The Revit team manages all invites and I will let them know.

Regards,
Shaan

I am a other long term tester who did not receive email.

I did receive a Vault invertation but definatly no Revit invite.
Have double checked though junk and received mail.
Most dissapointed as I usually use the beta testing as just that and jump straight in on offical release date.

Shaan

Getting an acknowledgement or response from Autodesk Beta team seems as allusive as Obama Care.

Regards

Dick

Dick,

I have contacted the Revit product team about the people asking why they had not been invited to the Revit Beta or had not received an email. In your case and a couple others I have looked into it and contacted the team to research what might have been wrong as it appears to me that you were indeed invited to the Revit Beta (in addition to your other active betas like AutoCAD which seem to be fine for you). Each product team is responsible for managing their beta and selecting candidates based on their requirements for the beta, past participation, and team resources for supporting users. I will reach out to the team again.

Regards,
Shaan

I would strongly suggest people invited into a beta to make sure to be active in the forum and feedback reports otherwise you may not be invited to future beta programs. The betas are for active feedback and not just a preview of a future release of a product.

Regards,
Shaan

Shaan - all is fine.

Thanks

Hi Shaan. I am currently 3ds max and Inventor Beta tester. But I am actually a high skill Revit expert and moderate 3ds max and Inventor user. for years I have aplicated the beta testings but never I have got any reply. I am insisting on that I would bea very good beta tester as giving many feedback and having capability to test all envireoments in all revit versions, including MEP and Structure. Is there a way to be a new active Revit tester?

Beta invitations are for those registered at https://beta.autodesk.com and limited to the number of active testers able to be supported by the product team. Not everyone can get into every beta. If you get invited into a beta please be sure to provide good clear feedback and be an active participant or you may not be invited into future betas.

Regards,
Shaan

Shaan,

I was wondering if there was still a Revit Beta going on, was a Revit 2014 Beta tester and a current Navis 2015 tester but never received an invite for Revit 2015 beta. If there is a beta and it's not too late, may I please get an invite? Thanks.
