AutoCAD Team Tip: AutoCAD 2009 QVDRAWING and QVLAYOUT

This AutoCAD Team Tip was submitted by Mathavan Arugalaimuthu of the AutoCAD QA Team.

AutoCAD uses a Quick View framework to allow user to quickly browse / switch all the open files, all layouts in a file. QV Drawing and QV layout use the QV Windows to navigate between open drawings or layouts within a drawing.

QVDRAWING:

QVDRAWING helps to quickly switches between the drawings using the drawing previews (1St Level Drawing Preview Windows). Or switch to different layouts from the open documents (2nd Level layout preview Windows)

· Quick View drawing preview Right Click menu gives a variety of options such as Cascading the Documents, Copy Files as Link, Close All , Close Other Files , Save All and Close <Drawing>

Ø Tip: Close Other Files – Close all the files except the active document. This intern provides options for “Save drawing files before closing” or “Close drawing file without saving”.

· Layouts \Model Tab right click menus can also be accessed from the 2nd Level Layout Preview right click menus

QVLAYOUT:

· QVLAYOUT helps to quickly switches between the Layouts of the active drawing.

· Layouts \Model Tab right click menus can also be accessed from the Layout Preview right click menus

Tip: Also the QVLAYOUT icon in the Status Bar gives Right click Menu for Create a New layout , Move or Copy or switch between the Model \ Previous active layout and page Set up the active Layouts.

Tip: Use Ctrl + Scroll wheel to resize the Preview QV Window Sizes
