AutoCAD Team Tip: AutoCAD 2009 QVDRAWING and QVLAYOUT

This AutoCAD Team Tip was submitted by Mathavan Arugalaimuthu of the AutoCAD QA Team.

AutoCAD uses a Quick View framework to allow user to quickly browse / switch all the open files, all layouts in a file. QV Drawing and QV layout use the QV Windows to navigate between open drawings or layouts within a drawing.

QVDRAWING:

QVDRAWING helps to quickly switches between the drawings using the drawing previews (1St Level Drawing Preview Windows). Or switch to different layouts from the open documents (2^nd Level layout preview Windows)

· Quick View drawing preview Right Click menu gives a variety of options such as Cascading the Documents, Copy Files as Link, Close All , Close Other Files , Save All and Close <Drawing>

Ø Tip: Close Other Files – Close all the files except the active document. This intern provides options for “Save drawing files before closing” or “Close drawing file without saving”.

· Layouts \Model Tab right click menus can also be accessed from the 2^nd Level Layout Preview right click menus

QVLAYOUT:

· QVLAYOUT helps to quickly switches between the Layouts of the active drawing.

· Layouts \Model Tab right click menus can also be accessed from the Layout Preview right click menus

Tip: Also the QVLAYOUT icon in the Status Bar gives Right click Menu for Create a New layout , Move or Copy or switch between the Model \ Previous active layout and page Set up the active Layouts.

Tip: Use Ctrl + Scroll wheel to resize the Preview QV Window Sizes
