30,000 miles by air in under 30 days

I will be in Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia. All air miles totaled is 31,232 miles or at an average of 450 miles per hour 69 hours sitting on a plane. The journey starts April 27th.

The journey starts April 27th. This will be partially vacation and some working while on vacation visiting customers, events, and a very special visit I will mention later. I will be on email and my new model Blackberry most of the time when not in the air as well I will be blogging...of course. I even got my new Thinkpad T60 dual core laptop and have a web cam and ready for duty. I will detail my geeky travel gear list later but I have about 50 pounds in camera equipment alone.

New Autodesk Product Beta Coming Soon, Codenamed Vespa

Vespacourtyards

Is it hand drawn, or did someone use a computer to create an image? Which in the above is hand drawn and which is by computer? They were both started out the same on CAD design output for the underlay.

Do you create presentation graphics using standard graphics software such as Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop?  Are you using pencils that require sharpening all the time or using those nice expensive markers that give you that lightheaded feeling and then headache from the fumes? After rendering by hand on CAD linework are you then scanning back in to the computer to edit again or share your creation with others?  Are you bad at drawing by hand and need a perfect solution to impress your coworkers and clients? Do you dislike the one direction method and would like to be able to update the CAD DWG file and have the rendered image update with your applied style? If you answered “yes” or even slightly nodded your head to any of these questions, we’ve got a new project in development which might interest you.  We gave a sneak peek at Autodesk University, and now you can take a peek in the privacy of your own cubicle, office, or home.

From this in AutoCAD:

From_this_in_autocad_1

To this in the codename "Vespa" product as some of the styles possible or create a hand drawn look:

If you are already a member of the MyFeeback portal, log in and select the User button to edit your profile and change your Beta Code to "Vespa01B". Spread the word to others who might benefit from this new product and wish to participate and provide feedback during pre-release beta testing.

Hello Dallas Texas!

Img_0222_medium

I am now in Dallas Texas attending an Autodesk event. This is not a town I have visited many times before. One item that disturbed me is my handwriting is no longer on the Walls of the Cadillac Bar which used to encourage patrons to graffiti the wall and so I did back in Autodesk University 1999. I had a great rib eye steak last night mmm and visited the West End.

I will be here until Tuesday then back home.

06 April 2006

I am traveling and in class

In San Rafael California this week and then off to Dallas Saturday.

I am currently in the back of a communication skills class which I can definitely use. :-)

Welcome Roopinder to CAD Blogging

A warm blogger welcome to the growing CAD blogging world goes to veteran journalist Roopinder Tara of Tenlinks.com. Roopinder was a former Cadence magazine editor before Cadalyst purchased the magazine. I have the premiere issue of Cadence magazine on my AutoCAD History website.

Here is Roopinder's new Blog: CAD Insider: http://cadinsider.typepad.com/my_weblog/

Here is the link to my photo of Roopinder back at the Autodesk University 2004 in Las Vegas.
http://autodesk.blogs.com/photos/autodesk_university_2004_/au_120104_00011_1.html

The more formal journalists that enter the blogging world validates the blog medium. Being the self proclaimed first CAD Blogger back in 2003 as a pet project I have seen it grow into a large community with many different perspectives and opinions from customers, students, press, software developers, differing disciplines, and dispersed in every part of the world.

It is so amazing how the CAD news and opinions has gone from once a month, to once a week, to almost every minute of any day on the web. It can be information overload unless you use a RSS Feed Reader. Aggregating all your RSS feeds you subscribe to is like reading the newspaper or browsing through it for highlights. I have over 400 RSS feeds I read yet it take less than 20 minutes a day to find the highlights. In the process I get a wide variety of CAD and Technical news and enjoy it just like reading a daily paper. I currently use the free RSS Bandit as well as the new preview of IE7 and its built in RSS feed reader.

Cheers,
Shaan
