What does Lynn Allen say about AutoCAD 2006?

AutoCAD 2006 is beginning to be discussed by Lynn Allen in her blog.

Now for another AutoCAD 2006 sneak peek.
In Lynn's blog she mentions how to find the area of a Hatch object. http://lynn.blogs.com/lynn_allens_blog/2005/03/quick_tip_get_t.html

It was never really easy to do this. It took multiple steps to get the updated area after changing boundary polyline as you had to list the Hatch each time or use a custom routine. What customers told us they wanted was a way to show the Hatch area dynamically or other types of object properties using the AutoCAD 2005 AutoCAD Field object.

What we did was make it possible to attach a AutoCAD Field to the Hatch with the area of the object as well as other properties of other types of objects. This way when the object is updated, the field updates as well.

Now we see a Field with the associated Hatch area.

Change the Hatch boundary and the Field updates to the new area. Just think you could also add a field to the hatch pattern name to show what the hatch is. For example create a hatch pattern for a specific patio tile. Now you would have the tile description and area. If you changed the hatch name or size both would automatically update.

These AutoCAD 2006 sneak peeks are limited to only a few using AutoCAD 2006 beta and also blogging on the web. This does not mean that the thousands of customer beta sites, resellers, or the press can discuss anything outside of what is in these blogs before they get officially released to do so.
